Hi, my name is Jean, and as always I have several contradictory goals:
- I’m a vegetarian
- I want to body build/run triathlons
- I’m on a budget
What’s a girl to do? Unfortunately, there is little to no help there out on this subject specifically. Thus, I’m starting my own blog in hopes of not only soliciting aid, but helping other women living off of peanut butter and a low budget, while gaining muscle mass like wonder woman and kicking ass along the way. First, let’s establish some ground rules.
- $55 food/toilet paper/shampoo/whatever budget a week. No exceptions. I’ll post this grocery list weekly so that you all can hold me accountable.
Like many people my age, I have student loans, debt, a retarded cat who eats money, and other such expenses. I need a budget, and based on my payments for room, board, and a fantastic gym to get my pump on, $55 is it. You can expect some tips and tricks every week, and tales as to whether those tricks were actually successful or not. I expect to eat a lot of beans. If the boyfriend complains, you can be sure I’ll mention every single complaint.
- Strong is sexy. Skinny is not sexy.
Some people call me thin, but my body fat percentage hovers around 22% (measured by several certified personal trainers, including myself!) Below this I lose my period, which is unhealthy, and the point of fitness is to kick ass and live on to reproduce eventually so I’d like to keep that capability, thank you. This is my belly. Note the lack of a six pack. I will probably never have a six pack and I claim as a necessity one entire pint of Ben and Jerry’s a week. If you are looking for a diet free of fat, sugar, carbs, or any other wonderful tasty treat of goodness do not look farther. I like my brussel sprouts and my brownies, sometimes for breakfast.
Also some people think that girls should have no upper body strength. That somehow having shoulders is unfeminine, and all protein shakes must have the words “lean” before the title in order to be drinkable. I can do more pull ups and dips than most of the guys I know, and I think that’s the way it should be. I want guns, and not the NRA type. I’m going to eat and train to build muscle and endurance, and I’m going to write about it. My man thinks muscle is sexy, and if yours doesn’t I highly suggest trading him in for a new and improved model.
- I am not allergic to peanuts. I eat more than a jar a week.
Prepare for a lot of peanut recipes! Though I suppose, if you didn’t like peanuts to begin with, you wouldn’t be reading this. So power on fellow peanut butter builder budget girls! And I’ll see you next time.
